A good quality steam iron is essential for quilting. It’s impossible to cut the fabric straight if it is covered with wrinkles and creases.

In addition, a wool pressing mat will turn any level surface into an ironing board. They are also lightweight and portable.

In addition to manual scissors, electric fabric scissors make a perfect gift idea for an avid, experienced quilter.

A good electric cutting tool saves tons of time cutting out all the different pieces of fabric.

Plus, they are not very expensive, ranging from $25 to around $50.

One of my favorite gift ideas for any crafter or maker is a kit. A quilting kit makes a great gift for a beginning who may not be ready to tackle something like a full sized bed quilt.
