There's no denying Harvard is the source of some stellar graduates. Now consider the fact that the student body of Harvard College is larger than the population of Dalton Brunson’s hometown of Jackson, Alabama!

Dalton grew up intending to go into business. In his eyes,bankers were the people who had it made. But then his grandmother became ill and that’s what influenced him toward medicine. As a former Interactor and a RYLA alumni, Dalton Brunson, originally from Jackson, Alabama, was a mentee of Rotarian Steve James, a member of the Jackson Rotary club. The Rotary District 6880 Steve James Youth Service Award was established in 2015 in honor of Steve, who had an unfailing commitment to Rotary and most especially to young people like the future Dr. Dalton Brunson.

One way to grow Rotary is to form new clubs, even in communities where Rotary is thriving. Here is the message that RI President Mark Mahoney has been sharing demonstrating how a single Rotary club likely does not serve all of the leaders in a community.

Tuesday Rotary Members Making an Impact for Good

{Dothan, AL., July 2, 2019} Today, the Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club awarded $19,300 to Wiregrass area non-profits as a way of living the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.” The grants were awarded to the following organizations for capital projects:

Youth Exchange Chair|District 6880

Over the last year, we have worked to get our Youth Exchange program up and running for District 6880. We are now going into year two of our plan.

As we start another Rotary year, the District Youth Service Committee is excited to reference the 2019-2020 RI theme, “Connecting the World.” District 6880 Youth Services Committee is ready to make this happen by rolling out our Youth Exchange program.
